Rapid and Radical Differentiation of Android User Interfaces

In the past year, Android has gained serious traction in the mobile space. It has also generated significant traction outside the consumer space into a range of vertical markets. To be successful, each device must offer its own distinct look and feel. Therefore, creating a unique and highly differentiated user experience is a top priority for any device manufacturer. Without the right tools and architecture, it’s a challenging and expensive process to build state-of-the-art Android UIs. The key is to create powerful and engaging UIs without incurring man-years of effort and for these UIs to be easily adapted and modified as requirements for new products emerge.

This session looks at the challenges and solutions in creating powerful and visually appealing UIs for Android devices – whether for mobile handsets or for the plethora of different product types that now use the Android platform. It will investigate the use of tools and graphics engines available, including how the Mentor Graphics Inflexion UI product offers a basis in which to explore and help solve UI implementation problems. Key take-aways include how these engines can be integrated within Android to enhance Android UI development and how to ensure that existing apps are not affected or that Google compatibility is not compromised.
